Training Practice

We are excited to be a GP Training Practice. This means that we support trainee doctors on behalf of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery. We also provide placements for 4th and 5th year students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School based at the University of Brighton.

Not all Practices are able to have this status. We have demonstrated high standards to achieve our accreditation which have been assessed by the GP Deanery for Kent, Surrey and Sussex, acting on behalf of the national organisation (the Postgraduate Medical Education Board).

More about Trainee GPs 

Doctors in training  to become GPs are called GP registrars.   A GP registrar is a fully qualified doctor and will likely have significant recent experience of hospital medicine which is needed before they can start to train as a GP.  It takes at least 3 years ‘additional training after qualifying as a doctor to become a GP.

If you are seeing a GP registrar you can be assured that you will receive the quality of service you would from your own GP. 
If you have any concerns please mention this to a member of staff.

For GP registrars to successfully complete their training, they need to be assessed on their consulting skills.  To help their assessors and trainers, we sometimes take videos of consultations which can then be watched back later to support their training.  We may ask you for your permission (in writing) to have your consultation recorded in this way.  You do not have to agree to this.  Not agreeing to this will in no way affect your care.  If you agree, you can be assured of your confidentiality and be certain that the recording will be used for educational purposes only.
