Requests for Urgent Medication

General Practice is a Non-Urgent Service.

Every patient is responsible for managing their medication appropriately and requesting repeat medication early enough to allow for safe processing.

Ideally, requests for repeat medication should be with the practice at least 5 working days before the medication is due to run out.

For the vast majority of medicines if you miss a day or two of medication it will not be an issue.  Therefore, if you have sent your prescription into the surgery after your medication has run out it is usually safe to wait for the surgery to reissue the medication.

In exceptional circumstances, for certain medications we will aim to provide a more rapid response.  If you are on any of the medications below it is more important that you manage your medicines carefully and have your repeat requests with us on time.  Repeated late requests for medication are a cause for concern.

The list of medications where it is important not to miss any doses are below.
It is ONLY medications from this list that our Reception and Pharmacy Teams are allowed to process more rapidly
